Duchess' understated elegance leaves the bride in the limelight

30 JULY 2011

They no doubt were reminded of the day they became man and wife.

Though the size and scale of the occasion were markedly different, the same happiness and emotion hung in the air.

Certainly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looked overjoyed as they arrived at Canongate Kirk to see Mike Tindall and Zara Phillips exchange vows.

The couple - known in Scotland as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn – announced their engagement just weeks before Mike and Zara.

Royal fans had to wait a little longer for 'the other royal wedding', though.

Following up on the previously seen emerald Diane Von Furstenberg silk shift dress she wore the previous day – Kate recyled another sartorial winner.

The embroidered nude-hued dress coat was last seen at the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles.

This time, it was accessorised with an asymmetrical wide-brimmed hat with a flower detail.

Perfectly fitting for the occasion, It was elegant, but not a headline-grabber.

Knowing that a lot of attention would be focused on her, the 29-year-old had clearly selected the outfit mindful not to overshadow the bride on her big day.
