Their
engagement was announced in December just weeks after Prince William and Kate Middleton
revealed they were to wed on April 29.
Zara –
the Queen's eldest granddaughter – met rugby player Mike during England's Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003.
They struck up a friendship which
blossomed into a romance. Mike, 32, claims it was his 'pure charm' that had won over the royal, 29.
Iain Balshaw, who was also part of England's victorious World Cup squad, is reported to be Mike's best man.
This was revealed by Gloucester winger James Simpson-Daniel, who is set to feature as a groomsman at the wedding.
The sportsman said he thought Iain was the perfect candidate for best man.
"He has got some great stories on Tins, and everyone's really looking forward to hearing them.
"He's a great public speaker," James told Gloucestershire newspaper The Citizen.
The 28-year-old also said he was delighted to be part of the eagerly-awaited wedding of his close friend.
"I'm really proud to be a groomsman, I'll be honoured to park all the flash cars for him."
The pair, who will hold a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse after the ceremony, live together in Cheltenham which is where Mike asked for Zara's hand in marriage.
Palace sources say the wedding will be a private affair, with the costs covered by the families.
