Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Daniel Westling: a royal love story

In 2001, Victoria's relationship with her first known boyfriend Daniel Collert came to an end. The couple had been together since the mid-Nineties and Daniel had followed the princess to America where she studied at Yale University before gaining work experience at the United Nations in New York. But it was not meant to be, and by May 2002 there were reports in the Swedish media that Victoria had a new man in her life.

In July of that same year, the first picture of Victoria and Daniel Westling sharing a kiss emerged, and the following summer the gym owner was seen holidaying with the princess on the island of Oland as she celebrated her 26th birthday
