Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden weds Daniel Westling in an emotional ceremonyIt was the day all of Sweden had been waiting for. Crown Princess Victoria - the nation's future queen - has married her long-term love Daniel Westling in a beautiful ceremony held at Stockholm's Cathedral.
The bride, who arrived in a vintage black sedan, was picture perfect in a cream coloured duchess satin gown, featuring a V-shaped back and a rounded neckline, designed for her by Par Engsheden.
Her five-metre train, attached at the waist of her dress, trailed out from behind and perfectly matched the shape of the princess' veil, which was held in place by the same tiara Queen Silvia wore to her wedding in 1976.
Shunning the Swedish tradition of walking side by side with her groom, Victoria was escorted up the aisle by her proud father, King Carl Gustaf XVI.
She was then met by her love – now titled Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland – who kissed his bride on the cheek while she reciprocated by kissing his hand.
The newlyweds looked blissfully happy throughout the service, which was attended by around 1,200 guests and conducted by four ministers.
Tenderly holding each other's hands and frequently exchanging loving glances, the only sign of nerves came when they slightly fumbled the exchange of the rings. The emotion of the ceremony then got to them as they were both seen shedding a tear.
All the guests, including a large number of European royals, rose for the couple's vows; the minister addressing Victoria by her full name, Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree, and Daniel as Olof Daniel Westling.
And 25 minutes after the ceremony began, Victoria and Daniel were proclaimed husband and wife by Archbishop Anders Wejryd.
After enjoying a modern pop song performed in their honour, the newlyweds, who met in 2002, strode out of the cathedral, where, on the steps outside, they shared their first kiss to the cheers of the Swedish public.
An open top horse-drawn carriage then carried Victoria and gym owner Daniel through the streets of Stockholm before arriving at the same royal barge used by the princess' parents on their wedding day exactly 34 years ago.
From there, the happy couple made their way across the harbour to Drottningholm Palace where the celebrated their nuptials – theirs is Sweden's first royal wedding since 1976 – at an special evening reception.
