Prince William and Kate Middleton: Their love in pictures
Ever since the happy news that Prince William had proposed to Kate Middleton, royal watchers were waiting for the first glimpse of the ring.
And they didn't have to wait long.
The sparkler that sealed the couple's love after eight years was on display at the official photocall on Tuesday afternoon.

Kate looked radiant if a touch nervous as she joined William at St James's Palace during their first public appearance since
the announcement.
And there on her finger was the engagement ring, a gorgeous 18 carat blue sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds.
It was the same engagement ring as his late mother Princess Diana wore.
William explained the significance of the ring, saying: "It's very special, as Kate is very special. It's my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement."
The Princess-to-be was beautiful in a navy blue v necked dress by Issa.
She told the assembled press joining the royal family was something of a "daunting prospect".
But she added: "Hopefully I'll take it in my stride. William is a great teacher so hopefully he'll help me."
Of their engagement, Kate said it was "very romantic." As it was a private moment, the couple didn't reveal too much about how it took place. William would not be drawn on the question of whether he went down on one knee.
When he was asked why it took so long for him to pop the question, he joked: "I didn't realise it was a race." He added: "The timing was right now. I'm very happy I've done it."
When the couple were asked what it is about each other that attracted them to each other, William said: "Where to start?"
"We're both fun… down to earth… we take the mickey out of each other."
For her part Kate said: "Over the years William has looked after me, he's very supportive of me in the good times and the bad."
