"I have been able to lead as 'normal' a student life as I could have hoped for and I'm very grateful to everyone, particularly the locals," said
Prince William, giving a "big thank you" to the residents of St Andrews at his graduation.
For the future King a normal student experience meant the freedom to walk about in peace, and as it happens, enjoy a romance, away from the media gaze, with the girl who will soon become his Princess.
Now, six years on, the couple will return to the place they fell in love.
On February 25 they will attend a reception launching St Andrews University's 600th anniversary celebrations.
It will be their second official engagement together.
