Action man plans for Prince William's water-based stag do are revealed
23 FEBRUARY 2011
What constitutes a stag do fit for a future King? According to Prince Harry, it seems to be one that takes place at sea, and includes plenty of adrenaline-fuelled activities.
Ahead of his brother William's April 29 wedding to Kate Middleton, the 28-year-old and 20 friends will spend a day enjoying off-shore activities, including speedboat racing and water-skiing, before heading off on an evening bar tour – by boat.
Best man has held secret talks with one of the UK's top watersports companies, specialising in stag and hen dos, to lay on the perfect send-off for his brother, reports the Sun.
The firm, which is based on the South Coast, has a range of equipment, including wakeboards and ringos, and also provides barbecues for their groups.
Alcohol is banned while on the water, but the day will end with a trip up a nearby estuary to visit pubs and restaurants only accessible by boat.
After the bash – expected to cost £2,500 in total – it is thought the group will spend the night at the country house of a friend.
The stag do at sea gives William an opportunity to mark the end of his bachelorhood in a private setting.
It is also a decidedly understated affair for the down-to-earth royal, who was said to have been wary of having a lavish do, and reportedly turned down the chance to celebrate at a friend's chalet in the French Alps.
