Monaco Royal Wedding: The turbulent love life and marriages of Albert's sisters

Princess Caroline of Monaco, the eldest daughter of Rainier III and Princess Grace, was just 21 when she married for the first time.

During her time at university in Paris, she met and fell in love with 37-year-old financier Phillipe Junot, and on June 29, 1978, the couple became husband and wife.

Caroline looked radiant in a lace design by Dior for her nuptials, which took place in Monaco's cathedral following a civil ceremony the previous day. The religious celebration was attended by some 65 guests, including Hollywood stars, Ava Gardner, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra.

Two years later, the young princess divorced but soon found love again with dashing Italian millionaire Stefano Casiraghi.

They were married in a civil ceremony on December 29, 1983 at the palace in Monte Carlo. She was already carrying their eldest son Andrea, and the couple went on to have two more children, Charlotte and Pierre.

Tragically seven years later, Stefano, who many considered to have been the love of her life was killed in a high speed powerboat crash. Caroline was watching as the 42-foot catamaran piloted by her daredevil husband flipped over. His funeral took place in Monaco's Saint Nicholas Cathedral exactly eight years after Princess Grace was laid to rest there.

On January 23, 1999, the day of her 42nd birthday, Caroline decided to rebuild her life with lifelong friend, Prince Ernst August of Hanover. The intimate nuptials took place privately, later confirmed in a short press release.

The couple's daughter Alexandra was born that same year. Today Caroline and Ernst lead their own lives but no separation or divorce has ever been confirmed.

Caroline's younger sister Stephanie, meanwhile, has always been known for her rebellious nature.

She fell in love with her bodyguard, Daniel Ducruet with whom she had two children, Louis (November 26, 1992) and Pauline (May 4, 1994) before the couple's marriage on July 1, 1995.

For her wedding, Stephanie wore a short lace dress with long sleeves and sweetheart neckline. But it was not to be, and one year later, the couple decided to separate.

The princess began a new relationship with another palace bodyguard, Jean Gottlieb Raymond. He is thought to be the father of her youngest daughter Camille who was born on and on July 15, but Stephanie has never commented on the matter.

Then on September 12, 2003, Stephanie secretly married Portuguese acrobat Adans Lopez Peres, ten years her junior. There are no pictures from the ceremony, and after nine months the couple separated.
