She's known for her love of glamorous, super-polished style. So trust Queen Rania of Jordan to give us all a lesson in how to look put together at important work events. On Sunday the Jordanian monarch appeared at the state opening of her country's parliament looking oh-so-chic in a vertical striped outfit by Italian designer Sara Battaglia. The smart look consisted of a matching shirt and pencil skirt, both white with thin blue stripes. She wore the long-sleeved button-up shirt tucked into the figure-hugging knee-length skirt and added a matching chunky belt which nipped in at the waist and enhanced her hourglass silhouette.

Rania kept her accessories simple, adding a chic black leather shoulder bag and a matching pair of heeled court shoes. She wore her brown hair in glamorous waves, and styled it in a side-parted half-up look. Makeup-wise she went for a dramatic look with smokey eyes and matte lips.

The 48-year-old is clearly a big fan of the Italian label – she was spotted in another of Sara's designs earlier this year. To greet Austrian president Alexander Van der Bellen on his visit to her homeland she wore a directional high-waisted skirt by the label, which featured a thick waist belt and a distinctive wrap front and was made from classic red gingham fabric. She teamed it with a crisp white long-sleeved shirt and sweet pale pink court shoes.

Earlier this year the Jordanian monarch celebrated her daughter Princess Salma bint Abdullah's high school graduation and, like any proud mum, couldn't help but gush about it on social media. Ahead of the royal's big day, the doting mother-of-four posted a throwback of the 17-year-old from her preschool graduation, writing alongside it: "It feels like just yesterday that you took your first steps, said your first word, left for your first day at school… This week, you graduate, but you will always be my precious little Salma."
