Guillaume praised his partner

"But the fury of the tabloids…the hatred of some users feeling stronger behind a keyboard, push me to tell of the pride, the love, respect and admiration I have for Marion to stay a strong, intelligent person among all of these stupid and unfounded accusations.

"I think we're all living with much more important things at the moment and now it is time to move on and raise the level a bit."

Guillaume spoke out shortly after The Dark Knight Rises actress took to social media to deny reports that she may have been a cause of the couple's split, while confirming that she and her partner were expecting their second child together.

"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into," she wrote. "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiralling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.

Marion denied rumours that she and Brad had a relationship

"Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you.

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad after two years of marriage, and asked for physical custody of their six children; Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Siloh, ten, and eight-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne.

The actress's lawyer released a statement which read: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."
