Even Justin Bieber leant his support to the charity group, tweeting his fans to "do the right thing" when he still held the top spot with his single Love Yourself by the 23rd December, ensuring that they made number one for Christmas Day.

The rights to the group's incredible story have been purchased by The Merchant of Venice and 2 Jacks Hollywood producer Julia Verdin, and the film will feature individual backstories of the 32 choir members and their work, as well as tell the story about the driving force behind their rendition of A Bridge Over You.

The group's agent Professor Jonathan Shalit revealed how thrilled he was about the news. He said: "This choir, made up of a typical group of the wonderful people who work in our NHS, have tapped into what is too often the unspoken pride felt by millions in the work of one of the nation's most cherished institutions.

"The coming together of their story and that of the incredible work of NHS truly is the stuff of movies and I am thrilled that Julia Verdin is on board to create a film which will resonate globally. I believe people will love watching this remarkable and uplifting story which has already touched the hearts of millions in the UK."
